Education

SeeChord has many applications that can help teachers and students learn about harmony.  From composition to analysis, it is crucial to have a good understanding of the harmonic structure of a piece of music.  SeeChord has many potential applications from primary level, right through to post-graduate research.

SeeChord has already been used in Secondary schools to help students understand some of the harmony contained within their set works for G.C.S.E. and ‘A’ level.  Using SeeChord charts of the pieces concerned, students were invited to comment on the composer’s use of major and minor tonality, chord progression and harmonic sequences.  For more detail about SeeChord in schools have a look at the pilot scheme page.

We are very interested in expanding SeeChord for use in music education and are in the process of putting together a package that can be taught in schools that covers areas such as composition, modulation, cadence structure and analysis. If you have any ideas or are interested in how to integrate the ideas of SeeChord into your school please let us know by sending us an email.
